As it is important that our decision making be informed by the youth we serve, our former campers have elected two representatives to speak for them at the adult meetings. It is so crucial to the work we do that it is reflected in our mission statement. “We are dedicated to providing a safe, affirming, and fun summer camp experience with LGBTQ+ youth.” We have a primary youth representative with a vote on important matters and an alternate to serve in the event of their absence. Any current or former camper can participate in the youth council meetings to weigh in on decision making and planning for future camp sessions. The meetings are youth led, but supervised by members of the mental health team.
