Counselor in Training (CIT) responsibilities:
Early Arrival and Departure:
Be punctual for early arrival and departure times to assist with setting up and tearing down camp infrastructure.
Shadow Camp Counselors:
Learn the responsibilities of camp counselors by shadowing them during various camp activities.
Observe and assist counselors in managing camper behavior, activities, and daily routines.
Lead Games and Songs:
Actively engage with campers by leading games and songs under the guidance of experienced staff.
Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere during recreational activities.
Shadow Leadership Council Members:
Gain insight into camp administration by shadowing different members of the leadership council.
Learn about the organizational aspects of camp administration, including scheduling, logistics, and decision-making processes.
No Supervision of Campers:
Understand that the role does not involve direct supervision of campers.
Focus on learning and supporting counselors rather than being responsible for the well-being of campers.
Confidentiality:
Avoid involvement in confidential information about campers.
If accidentally exposed to sensitive information, maintain strict confidentiality and uphold privacy.
Model Good Choices:
Follow camp policies and adhere to the code of conduct as an example to campers and fellow staff.
Demonstrate responsible and respectful behavior at all times.
Have Fun:
Foster a positive and enthusiastic attitude to create an enjoyable atmosphere for campers and staff.
Encourage a sense of camaraderie and teamwork among fellow CITs and staff members.

Recognize the potential benefits for future opportunities, such as college scholarships and enhanced job resumes.

CIT Rights:
Respectful Treatment:
CITs have the right to be treated with respect and courtesy by camp staff, including counselors, leadership council members, and fellow CITs.
Inclusive Environment:
CITs have the right to be included in camp activities and discussions, fostering a sense of belonging within the camp community.
Clear Communication:
CITs should receive clear and open communication regarding their responsibilities, expectations, and any changes in the camp schedule or policies.
Constructive Feedback:
CITs have the right to receive constructive feedback on their performance, allowing them to learn and improve in their role.
Safe and Supportive Atmosphere:
CITs have the right to work in an environment that prioritizes safety, well-being, and support from camp staff.
Conflict Resolution:
CITs have the right to a fair and impartial process for addressing conflicts or concerns that may arise at camp.
Handling Conflicts:
Open Communication:
Address minor conflicts through open and respectful communication with the individuals involved, seeking to understand different perspectives.
Seek Mediation:
If conflicts persist, CITs can request mediation from the mental health team or the Camp Director to facilitate resolution.
Confidentiality:
Respect the confidentiality of individuals involved in the conflict, ensuring that personal matters are handled discreetly and professionally.
Follow Camp Policies:
